How to apply to PS 9

Students applying for the September 2011 Kindergarten year must have a 2006 birth date. The General Education and Gifted & Talented programs require a separate application.

GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
No testing required for entry. Open to zoned residents. For more information regarding the admission of non-zoned students, visit the NYC Department of Education Kindergarten Admissions Web page.

Kindergarten Admissions Timeline For 2011-12 School Year

 January 10: Kindergarten application period begins: Families submit applications at schools.
 March 4: Deadline to submit a Kindergarten application
 March 21-25: Families notified about assignment offers
 March 28-April 15: Pre-registration at schools

GIFTED & TALENTED PROGRAM
PS 9 is one of several schools where a Gifted & Talented program exists, and the selection of students is made solely by the Department of Education. The Department of Gifted/Talented & Enrichment will arrange for testing of students after G&T applications have been received by their office.

Parents may obtain an application by visiting the DOE Gifted & Talented Website or by calling (212) 342-8300. Local schools, including PS 9, will also have copies of the application.

PRE-K PROGRAM
Requires no testing for entry; zoned residency preference. Pre-K applicants must have 2007 birth dates.
